Synopsis

Determines the total strain energy release rate for a 1-D strip under compression load, where the energy release is due to buckling. Note that the function returns zero if the applied strain is too small to cause buckling.

The calculation is based on: Chai, H., Babcock, C.D.,and Knauss, W.G.,"One-Dimensional Modeling of Failure in Laminate Plates by Delamination Buckling," International Journal of Solids and Structures,Vol. 17, No. 11,1983, pp1069-1083
