Calculations are presented which determine the strain-energy-release-rate (SERR) for a laminate under compression load. The driving force for delamination growth is related to buckling of a sublaminate. These are sometimes referred to as thin-film theories because the overall laminate does not bend in response to the load path change at the buckle location.
